I’m Jodie Knell!

(in case you wondered where “knelly” came from)

I’ve been a proud Warrnambool girl for almost 20 years and I stumbled into my dream job over 13 years ago. I pinch myself daily that I get to capture people in life’s happiest moments.

I’m a wife to Ad and mum of 3 of the raddest kids getting around. My big 2 are already teenagers and I am loving this age, truly! We love to travel the globe and are all about adventuring and making memories.

I took up surfing and got my first puppy at age 40, so now i’m a middle-aged, ocean-obsessed, crazy dog-lady. The great outdoors is my happy place and I’m obsessed with capturing the beauty of family love amidst the wonder of nature. I utterly adore living on the coast.

I love chatting to strangers, I play the violin, you’ll find me walking the dog at the beach most mornings, I am LOVING my 40s.
I’m artistic (dare I say it) but i’m impatient, so photography is my perfect, instant artistic outlet.

I know being in front of a camera is hella awkward but I also know it’s always worth it. Excuse my while I toot my own horn, but I am pretty good at putting people at ease in front of my camera. Mainly because i’m a clumsy old dork & intimidation is NOT my middle name. But whatever works to get those beautiful, natural photos hey?

I love meeting gorgeous families, leaving each session feeling like i've just made some awesome new friends (both big & little!). I don't do cheese, I keep it natural, candid and real. All the love. All the joy. And of course all the crazy!

I'm ridiculously passionate & can’t wait to get you in front of my camera. Promise you’ll be glad you did.

Oh and just in case you're wondering (you probably weren’t!)... KNELLY is pronounced "nelly"... gotta love that silent K!

Jodie takes amazing photos of families especially kids. You can tell that pretty quickly from her website, and we were totally blown away by our photos. They are truly spectacular. Jodie was great to deal with and the photo shoot was relaxed and fun. She had out 5 year old posing for her and our clingy 2 year old hugging her by the end. Highly recommend.

Jodie is amazing. I have always refused to be photographed and when I had my first child I still felt very uncomfortable. Jodie was the first person in 10 years to make me feel comfortable in front of the camera. As my children grew they have become very energetic and boisterous. Jodie takes it all in her stride, never gets frustrated with them but embraces their special brand of crazy and produces amazingly beautiful photos of us. We have now been having our annual photos with her for 7 years and each time we travel back form Jakarta, she is always on our to do list. Our sessions now are just like catching up with a friend.

Capturing special memories with my girls was important to me, as I don’t have many photos to look back on of myself and my mum, she’d always be the one behind the camera. Sadly I lost her to cancer so I don’t get the chance now to freeze any moments. So that is why I decided to do this session as I gift to my girls to have forever. We will definitely be back.
